Welcome to the Rohraff Family Homepage, where you can find some information about our family and our origin.
About us:
Geological research, very limited at the beginning, became for few members of our family not only a hobby but also a passion, way of life. Collecting documents concerning our origin we would like to show the influence of the Big History (migration of people, World Wars, etc.) to life of our family and its members. We want to show the results to other relatives and pass it on to the next generations.
Our common ancestors lived about 150-200 years ago in a land that during it’s whole history was known under many different names: Cassubia, Kaszuby, Kaschubei, Kaschubien… Inhabitants of this beautiful land call it Kaszëbë (Kaszëbskô) and they call themselves Kaszëbi.
Since that time because of different life circumstances including World Wars many of our ancestors left Kashuby. Now their descendants spread all over the world, benefit from new technology that is offered nowadays and try to fill gaps in their past that occurred due to many events, often not of our free will. Ironically the largest number of these gaps can be found in the source, meaning in the family presently living in Kashuby. Main reasons for this status quo are World Wars, especially WW2 had big influence on Kashuby and Kashubians.
